Softail Tie-Down Points When on a Lift

✅ Front Tie-Down Points

  • Lower Triple Tree:
Loop soft straps around the lower triple tree (just above the fork tubes). Avoid pulling from the handlebars, especially on newer models with electronic throttle controls.
  • Fork Tubes (above the fender):
If the triple tree isn't accessible, wrap around the fork tubes, just under the triple tree, above the fender.

✅ Rear Tie-Down Points

  • Passenger Footpeg Brackets:
Strong and safe to use on most Softail models. Avoid exhaust pipes and suspension components.
  • Frame Rails under the Seat:
Some models have exposed frame sections near the shocks that are ideal for securing the rear.

⚠️ Tips for Safe Lifting

  • Use ratchet straps or cam buckle straps with soft loops to avoid scratching.
  • Do not overtighten, especially the front, to avoid compressing forks too much.
  • Make sure the lift is centered under the frame (avoid the oil pan!).
  • Consider using wheel chocks or a front fork brace if you're doing maintenance that requires extra stability.
