Three Stages of Love with a Motorcycle
Huey Lewis once said, "The power of love is a curious thing." It can make one man cry and another man sing.
For 30-year-old Bradley Field, when he talks about his love for motorcycles, you can tell he is undoubtedly the singing kind.
Bradley Field: "My love for motorcycles started when I was a kid watching my father rebuild a 1982 Shovelhead Super Glide in the basement of our home in Chichester.
Just seeing them work on that bike sparked my interest. That love has never wavered from childhood to now!"
Below is Field’s 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Bob.
Over the years, this bike has undergone many transformations, which Field categorizes into three stages:
Initially, the bike had a charcoal pearl paint finish, with blacked-out engine and transmission components.
Bradley Field: "My first version of the bike was black. During later modifications, I began experimenting with hints of purple, my favorite color."
During the first year of upgrades, Field repainted the bike white and added Harley's Switchblade wheels along with his favorite Saddlemen Step Up seat.
In recent years, Field upgraded the bike with Brembo radial calipers, Speed Merchant brackets, Alloy Art shifters, Moons MC tail lights, and a long Super Glide rear fender.
Many components were chromed, including timing covers, rocker boxes, and transmission covers.
Field mentioned that this third phase is the most customized and upgraded version of his Street Bob.
“I’ve always loved chrome finishes and the look it gives to the bike,” he said, expressing pride in the way the upgrades blend functionality and aesthetics.
His dedication to upgrading the motorcycle reflects his love for the hobby and the sense of identity it gives him.
Over the years, the changes made to his 2014 Harley-Davidson Street Bob have not only enhanced its performance but also transformed it into a reflection of his personality and style.
Field concluded, “My journey with this bike has been like a relationship.
There are highs and lows, but the love for riding and customizing it keeps me going.”
For Bradley Field, and countless others like him, motorcycles are not just vehicles—they are extensions of passion, creativity, and identity.
